Raw Sewage Floods Marlborough Neighborhood

Raw sewage flooded the streets and basements of numerous homes in a Marlborough, CT neighborhood due to a backed up sewage pipe. In Rocky Hill, CT, the top floor of a multi-family home was vacant when a storm was passing through. The storm caused one of the windows to break on the top floor allowing water into the room and eventually into the live power outlets. In Wethersfield, CT, a massive Nor’easter caused temperatures so cold that a local hotel had a catastrophic pipe-break in the main sprinkler system. February 12, 2018, a cold snap with dangerously low temperatures hit Hartford, CT. Inside of a local nonprofit agency in the area a pipe froze and burst. The water damage spread throughout about 75,000 square feet of the building before being stopped. Since so much of the building was damaged, the agency was unable to confidently continue their work without causing harm to their employees and their customers so they were forced to shut down. To get the agency back on track, they called SERVPRO and they were very quick to arrive. They began by doing an emergency water extraction to the multiple inches of water in the building. After, they completely dried the area out and tested for dangerous mold and mildew build up due to the water. Next, SERVPRO removed and replaced all of the damaged material from the flood. The nonprofit agency was very impressed by SERVPRO.

Dozens of people lost their home after a fire ripped through 2 separate multi-family buildings on the corner of South Marshall and Case Street in Hartford Connecticut. The SERVPRO First Responders were on the scene. They spent the whole night and into the next day securing the property and personal belongings from the fire and water wreckage.

In Portland Connecticut, a homeowner suffered major water damage behind their newly installed $30,000 kitchen cabinets. On the corner of South Marshall and Case Street in Hartford Connecticut, a fire started in a multi-family apartment and unfortunately spread to the multi-family apartment adjacent to it as well. The SERVPRO first responders of Glastonbury/Wethersfield were on the scene and worked throughout the night and into the next day securing the two properties by turning off the power and water, boarding up windows and doors, and removing hanging debris. SERVPRO also worked as hard as they could to secure the personal belongings inside from the fire and water damage. About 20 residents were displaced in this tragic accident, and they were all looking to SERVPRO to salvage what they could from their destroyed homes. Most of the belongings on the inside of the buildings were unfortunately nothing but piles of ash and soot, but the belongings that could be salvaged were returned to their rightful owners.

The power was out in 75% of Beacon Falls. The storm damage was expansive, including a 10 mile stretch of absolute ruin in Hamden. The damage was so severe in some areas, numerous roads were covered in detritus, making them impassable for days. Even though the storm caused many formidable obstacles, SERVPRO of Glastonbury/Wethersfield was on the scene to take care of the storm damage.

On February 12, 2018 a sprinkler pipe break at a sizable Hartford nonprofit agency damaged about 75,000 square feet of the agency. The agency’s ability to serve clients and keep its employees safe were affected. The agency chose SERVPRO of Glastonbury / Weathersfield to do all the restoration work. SERVPRO of Glastonbury / Weathersfield began by performing emergency water extraction of several inches of water. We then completely dried the area with industrial dryers and tested for mold and mildew. Next, we removed and replaced all damaged building materials. During the work we discovered and removed hazardous asbestos and applied an anti-microbial spray. The nonprofit commented on the fast response, professional service, and SERVPRO's ability to safely remove hazardous material.

This job was an important reminder that you need to inspect your roof at least a couple times a year to inspect for any damages that need repairing, no matter the age of the building. Since the fire fighters utilized the fire hoses in putting out the flames, Chez Josef also needed SERVPRO to dry the rooms and provide water damage services. SERVPRO pumped the water out and removed the furniture and other items from the building as well to make room for our specialized drying equipment. Our crew disposed of unsalvageable wet materials, such as drywall. SERVPRO’s arrangement of powerful industrial fans allowed the drying process to be completed more rapidly.

A family living in East Longmeadow, MA went on vacation for three days during the New Year’s Eve holiday in 2016. Upon coming back on Sunday, January 3rd, the family found that their furnace had suffered a backup, causing water rather than steam  to travel through the heating system. Farmington Valley was hit by a torrential downpour in July of 2016. The storm drain at a Simsbury independent school couldn’t contain the hefty volume of water, so large amounts of water mud flooded into the entrance door and all over the floors of the boarding school as a result. The water and mud covered almost 7,000 square of the school’s floors. The Simsbury all-girl school called SERVPRO of Glastonbury/Wethersfield and within an hour we responded, and were on the scene within two hours. Our crew cleaned up the mess, did restorations, and dried everything up in five days. The Simsbury school was so happy with the services we provided, they've called us to take care of several other jobs since then.
