February 12, 2018, a cold snap with dangerously low temperatures hit Hartford, CT. Inside of a local nonprofit agency in the area a pipe froze and burst. After, they completely dried the area out and tested for dangerous mold and mildew build up due to the water. Next, SERVPRO removed and replaced all of the damaged material from the flood. On the corner of South Marshall and Case Street in Hartford Connecticut, a fire started in a multi-family apartment and unfortunately spread to the multi-family apartment adjacent to it as well. SERVPRO also worked as hard as they could to secure the personal belongings inside from the fire and water damage. About 20 residents were displaced in this tragic accident, and they were all looking to SERVPRO to salvage what they could from their destroyed homes. Most of the belongings on the inside of the buildings were unfortunately nothing but piles of ash and soot, but the belongings that could be salvaged were returned to their rightful owners.

On February 12, 2018 a sprinkler pipe break at a sizable Hartford nonprofit agency damaged about 75,000 square feet of the agency. The agency’s ability to serve clients and keep its employees safe were affected. The agency chose SERVPRO of Glastonbury / Weathersfield to do all the restoration work. SERVPRO of Glastonbury / Weathersfield began by performing emergency water extraction of several inches of water. We then completely dried the area with industrial dryers and tested for mold and mildew. Next, we removed and replaced all damaged building materials. During the work we discovered and removed hazardous asbestos and applied an anti-microbial spray. The nonprofit commented on the fast response, professional service, and SERVPRO's ability to safely remove hazardous material.
